1. When will my order ship?

Here at Dean's Beans, we know how important it is to have your morning cuppa.  And we know that fresh coffee makes the best brew.  That’s why we roast to order, and try our hardest to get orders out the same day.  If you order by 8:30 am Monday-Friday, we will roast and ship within 48 hours. Otherwise, we will process your order the next day. We are closed on Saturday and Sunday, so if your order is placed after 8:30am on Friday, it will not be processed until Monday.  Please plan accordingly!

HOWEVER, it can take several more days to process orders during times of high-order volume (particularly around holidays), or there can be delays with inclement weather (we do live in Massachusetts, so it can snow a foot at any point!). Again, please plan accordingly. We don't want you to be disappointed. While we will help you as best as we can, we are not responsible for shipments once they leave our facility.

2. What is your return policy?

We want you to be satisfied with your order, so we are here to help make it right! We can be reached at 978-544-2002 ext. 110, M-F, 9-4. If we can't answer your call, please leave a message with any issues. When calling, please note your order number, and the Shipping Dept. number so we can help track your order. For best results, please call us within 48 hours of realizing your order is not satisfactory.

If your order arrives damaged, please call us immediately so we can start a claim with the shipping company.  Please save the box and packaging for 5 days, in case the shipper needs to inspect it to fulfill the claim. We will work with you and the shipping company to replace the product as quickly as we can.

If you receive the incorrect products, it's probably due to a packing error. Sorry! We are only human! Call us and we will, of course, work with you on an exchange.

Any other problems? Call us and we'll talk it through with you!

3. What is your shipping policy?

We have two shipping carriers: UPS and the US Postal Service (or Post Office). We try to offer a range of options from both, from Flat Rates to expedited options, to give you flexibility when it comes to shipping charges and time in transit.

When selecting UPS, you will be able to see the estimated delivery date. We can't get exact delivery dates from the Post Office, but you can expect the Flat Rates to arrive in 2-4 business days, and Priority in 2-5 business days, both depending on how far your shipping address is from Massachusetts.

SurePost is another economic option, where UPS picks the package up from our facility, and drops it off at your local Post Office (including PO Boxes) for them to deliver as usual.  You can ship up to 9 pounds with this option. This is a more economical route for many packages, however please note: this service adds 1-2 business days in transit to your order.  Depending on to where you are shipping, time in transit can be from 2 business days to the Northeast to 8 business days to the West Coast. Please keep this in mind when weighing shipping options!

Flat Rate Shipping: We can't fit everything into the Flat Rate packages. The website is smart enough to figure out what will fit, and what won't. If the contents of your cart will not fit, then this option will show up as "Ineligible." If you would to know if a certain combination of items will fit into a Flat Rate option, give us a call and we'll check for you!

Shipping to a PO Box, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico or a military address?  Your options are USPS Priority (up to 60 pounds), SurePost (up to 9 pounds) and either Flat Rate option (maximum of 2 - 10 pounds, depending on which Flat Rate option you're looking for). If you have more than the maximum weight limit, the shipping option will not show up for you to select.

4.  Do you ship to Alaska and Hawaii?

Yes! Finally, you can do this on our website! You will now be able to see USPS Priority (up to 60 pounds), and either Flat Rate option (maximum of 2 - 10 pounds, depending on which Flat Rate option you're looking for). If you have more than the maximum weight limit, the shipping option will not show up for you to select. You will also see UPS prices, but those will be dramatically higher than the Flat Rate options (which we recommend). If you need suggestions as to how to get the most bang for your shipping buck, please give us a call and we can help you figure it out!

5. Do you ship internationally?

No, unfortunately we do not ship outside of the US due to high shipping costs. The best rate we've found is the USPS International Priority Flat Rate Box, which runs you $45.00. If you are OK with paying at least $45, you can give us a call here in the office and we can process your order offline.

6. How do you calculate your shipping rates?

We get this question a lot, especially in the age of Free Shipping, $5.00 shipping and Amazon Prime. The bottom line is this: we aim to keep our coffee prices per pound as low as possible for Organic, Fair Trade, Kosher, Specialty coffee. To do so, we do not build in a large profit margin, which means, we do not have any wiggle room to offset your shipping charges. What we do instead is give YOU, the customer, exactly the negotiated rate that we get charged by the shipping companies. So that might be $6, $7 or even $12.00. But, since our coffee prices are still lower than our competitors, when you calculate the price per pound you are paying including shipping, you are still paying less than what you would pay elsewhere. It looks different if you're used to Free Shipping, but if you do the math, you'll find that we are still a better deal. Questions or concerns? Want suggestions as to how to get the most bang for your shipping buck? Please give us a call. We'd be happy to talk it over with you.

A Note on our Shipping Estimator Tool

We have added a tool to your Shopping Cart that will help you estimate your shipping costs before you Check Out. Please understand that this is just an estimate! The rates you receive are subject to change when you select your Shipping Method. The changes are due to UPS and USPS rates that change in live time with fluctuating fuel costs and daily rate changes, but also could be different if you are shipping to a residence or a commercial address. Thank you for your understanding.
