Many customers have asked whether any of our coffee communities have or will be affected by the radiation leaks from the Fukushima reactors in Japan. I have done quite a bit of research on this at this point. According to the scientific agencies of Japan, China, the US, Canada and Indonesia, as well as independent researchers out there, the predominant winds from that area are northwest and northeast (as we sailors know!). So, since our coffee countries all lie to the south and southeast of Japan there has been no evidence of soil or air contamination to our farming communities, thankfully.
