A look at Dean's Beans mission in action in Sumatra!
Located on the Equator, Sumatra is home to some of the world's most biodiverse rainforests, and the last intact forests in Southeast Asia. However, Sumatra's forests are under threat from logging, palm oil and paper pulp plantations, as well as the growing human population.
Our longstanding commitment to direct relationships with coffee farmers means that we go visit and listen to their needs and dreams for their children. Last fall Beth and Brendan traveled to Indonesia and spent time with the KGLA (Koperasi Gayo Lauser Antara) coffee farmers in Aceh, Sumatra.
This year they requested help with reforestation, goats, and weed whackers to support their organic land management. So that's what we're providing!
