Our Team

If you’ve ever wondered who’s behind your coffee, here we are. Sixteen faces, a lot of personality, and one shared commitment to brew great coffee and create real change. We roast, pack, ship, answer your calls and emails, fix equipment, taste every batch, and yes, occasionally challenge each other to ping-pong. This isn’t a stock photo team. It’s the real group of people who make Dean’s Beans run every day in Orange, Massachusetts.

Dean started this company more than 30 years ago with a belief that coffee could be a vehicle for positive change. He built long-term relationships with farming cooperatives, committed to Organic and Fair Trade from the start, and proved that a coffee company could lead with its values. When Dean retired, he didn’t sell the company to a big conglomerate or outside investors, he sold it to us - the people who'd been helping run it for years.

Today, Dean’s Beans is a 100% worker-owned cooperative. The people you see here own the company. We make decisions collectively. We share responsibility for quality, for our partnerships with farmers, and for the health of the business. Ownership shapes how we show up for each other and for our customers. It keeps us grounded and accountable.

What hasn’t changed is the heart of Dean's Beans. Every coffee we roast is still certified Organic and Fair Trade. We still focus on long-term partnerships with coffee producing cooperatives around the world. The faces on this page represent decades of experience and expertise, a lot of laughter, and a deep belief that business can, and should, strengthen communities. This is our team. We’re glad you’re here to meet us.

OUR CEO

After a lifetime of entrepreneurship, including 15 years as a mission-driven nonprofit leader and consultant, Beth joined Dean’s Beans as COO in early 2022. Her early work was instrumental in preparing the company for transitioning to worker ownership when founder, Dean Cycon, retired in 2023. Beth became the CEO at that time.

Beth’s track record of high impact fundraising, organizational development, strategic planning, strengthening boards and teams, and financial management has helped steer many organizations successfully through challenges, change, and growth. She's thrilled to be on "Team Dean's Beans."
