We’ve got big love for our longtime partners at CoSurCa in Cauca, Colombia. This incredible cooperative is behind the rich, full-bodied coffee featured in our July Limited Edition Colombian Dark Roast. Their coffee is impressive and consistent, just like their commitment to people-centered development. We’re proud to be walking this path alongside them. Earlier this month, we shared their innovative gastronomy training program, which helps local youth build careers in sustainable eco-tourism. But CoSurCa’s great work doesn’t stop there.
They also launched a youth multi-media storytelling program in 2022. In it, young people develop photography and videography skills and learn to interview elder farmers to preserve the rich oral history of their communities and coffee-growing traditions. This program has been such a hit that its first class of students is now teaching the younger teens, continuing the cycle of empowerment, creativity, and access to opportunity.
CoSurCa is made up of 1,500 farming families in 12 distinct communities, each with their own histories, challenges, and dreams, all connected through coffee. Now, after years of weather damage and conflict, the cooperative is coming together to build a bridge and upgrade the roads connecting the coffee farms and regional processing center. 
The goal? Better roads that will handle heavier trucks making travel in the mountains safer and more reliable. 
Building bridges is more than needed infrastructure, it’s a powerful metaphor.
