Redefining Leadership in Coffee

At Dean’s Beans, we believe coffee is about the connection between people, land, and purpose. And when that connection is led by women, something truly powerful grows.

We're proud to share the story of Café Orgánico Marcala, S.A. (COMSA), a remarkable cooperative in the highlands of Marcala, Honduras. COMSA was founded in 2001 and now includes over 1,200 dedicated members. But what really sets them apart is how they’ve made space for women to lead on their farms, in their communities, and across the entire coffee value chain.

Our Honduran green beans are Fair Trade, organic, and Smithsonian Bird Friendly Certified! "Manos de Mujer" ("Women’s Hands") is a collective of women coffee producers within COMSA, and the coffee we source comes exclusively from 15 farms within this inspiring group. We pay an additional premium to these women farmers, which they use to reinvest in their communities. This coffee is a shining example of what can happen when women have the tools and support to thrive. They’re nurturing communities, passing on knowledge, and redefining what leadership in coffee looks like.

Their work is rooted in COMSA’s holistic philosophy called Finca Humana (“The Human Farm”), where farming is a tool for human wellbeing. Through this lens, COMSA runs hands-on training to teach how to farm with nature, not against it, passing knowledge from one generation of women to the next.

Every bean is grown using organic, biodynamic practices and sorted with incredible care: handpicked cherries, floated to remove imperfections, fermented just right, and dried slowly for maximum flavor. And it’s not just about quality—it’s about traceabilityintentionality, and honoring the farmers behind every cup.

Proceeds from coffee sales and support from Dean’s Beans helps fund a groundbreaking international school, where children are taught to dream big, lead boldly, and shape the future of their communities.

When you purchase this coffee, you’re not just supporting sustainable farming. You’re backing real women doing real work with real impact.
