This Coffee's Story

Named with a wink to the legendary
folk-rock band of the same name, this blend dances between light and dark
Mexican roasts for a cup with balance, rhythm, and plenty of soul.

Back in the day, we even kept the band
fueled on tour, with bags of this blend riding along in the van, helping them
hit the high notes on the long highways.

Smooth yet spirited, Aztec Two Step is proof that when you mix light and dark just right, you get harmony in every cup, but without the caffeine buzz. Call it coffee with a backbeat.

This Coffee's History

2009
Death Train Project

Prosthetics, job training and repatriation of Death Train victims

2013-2019
Combatting Roya, Bokashi Compost and Organic Education (PROISCH)

Soil Carbon Restoration (PROISCH)
2017
Hurricane Relief (PROISCH)

We provided emergency assistance to 23 families for immediate food needs and essential home repairs following Hurricane Max. Support focused on helping families stabilize quickly, with resources directed where they were most needed in the days after the storm.

2020
Pandemic Emergency Food Rations (Serranos de Motozintla)

We supported emergency food distribution in 2020 with the Serranos de Motozintla cooperative, reaching 79 coffee growers and 237 families during the pandemic. Resources were directed to meet immediate needs as households faced disruptions to income and daily life.

Delightful!

This is one of the nicest coffee profiles I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The aroma as soon as you open the bag is delightful. The flavor is reminiscent of a slightly spicy clove cake with the right amount of sweetness and acidity to balance and lingers just long enough to appreciate. The mouth feel is full bodied. Overall, very highly recommend this one.

Have to Have It!!

I probably should try other aromas, but I’ve always been that type of person to stick with one product that I really love! You know, like ice cream? I use my French Press and I have a cream frother, which makes the best cup of coffee! No sweeteners. I have it autoshipped every 9 weeks for years!

Best coffee ever

This is literally the best coffee I’ve ever had. I’ve been buying this blend for 3 years now and nothing compares. I’m always left feeling disappointed when I go to cafés for a latte because their coffee is just watery or tastes burnt. The Aztec two step is the perfect blend of impeccably roasted beans that gives a lovely rich and smooth flavor that I could drink all day long.

Thanks Erin! Glad to hear you love it.

A life-altering experience

The question arises. Why only now, after drinking coffee for so many decades, do I have the pleasure of drinking a coffee as good as this? I love Ahab’s Revenge and many other of Dean’s Beans…for that matter, in the past, the coffees from many other roasters. But a cup of ATS is like transport to heaven itself.

TY to Dean’s Beans and the Aztec Two-Step growers. You are the best!

A Bit Burnt

Four days after roast date, the dark seems too dominant for a medium dark blend. Detected very little in the way of nuttiness.

My favorite

This is my favorite coffee. It is full-bodied with low acidity and has a sweetness to it. I look forward to my first sip in the morning.

My absolute favorite coffee.

I'm not a barista or coffee expert, but I do try to sample various kinds of locally roasted/small batch coffee because I like trying new things... and I love coffee. Every single time I try a new or different type of coffee I end up wishing I had bought a bag of aztec two-step instead, it's that good (at least to me). I grind my beans coarse and use a pour-over and it makes a fantastic cup to start the day.
